Our Story
My name is Mara Thompson, and I started Thistle & Twine because I was tired of salons that felt like assembly lines. I'd spent years working in bigger studios in Bozeman, watching clients come in stressed and leave just as stressed — maybe with a blowout, but no real sense of care. I wanted something different. Something that actually slowed down enough to feel human.
Thistle & Twine grew out of that frustration and out of a deep love for Montana's land. Most of our products are handmade right here in Bozeman using locally foraged or Montana-sourced botanicals. We make our own bath soaks, facial serums, and hair masks in small batches so they're always fresh and full of intention. Nothing here comes from a bulk distributor catalogue.
Our clients are the heart of everything. Mostly local Bozeman women who've found their way to us through a friend, a farmers' market conversation, or a post tucked away on Instagram. They come back not just for the results, but for the feeling — like stepping out of the pace of the world for a couple of hours and being genuinely looked after by someone who cares.
